Yaya Toure hopes for Champions League call from Pep Gardiola...

Yaya Toure has gone 90 minutes in each of Manchester City’s last two Premier League matches, wins over Crystal Palace and Burnley.

Now he’s hoping to take the next step.

Left off the UEFA Champions League roster for the group stage after appearing in a qualifying win over Steaua Bucharest, Toure is hoping Pep Guardiola will see his work rate and include him for the knockout rounds.

From the Manchester Evening News: “Of course, that’s why I stayed at City,” he said.

“The most important thing is to help the team, and to also help the manager, who is very, very intelligent, very strong tactically. I think when the team gets all of his ideas we are going to be a great team.

“I have to keep working because (Guardiola) is a very, very, very professional person and he really likes football."

Toure’s two-goal turn against Palace turned into another 90 against Burnley, but Guardiola will probably want to see the 33-year-old thrive against another level of competition: Chelsea and Arsenal are in City’s next four PL fixtures.
