Jose Mourinho reveals to the world on how to stop Lionel Messi...

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed what coaches should do to have a chance to stop FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

The Portuguese faced Messi several times during his stint at Real Madrid, as well as in the 2010 Champions League semi-final with Inter and the 2006 last-16 with Chelsea.

He revealed he always spent hours preparing how to stop Messi, and that only with a team effort there is a chance – no guarantee – to contain the Argentine.

"I always planned when I played against him. Every time I spent hours studying and trying to (find ways to) stop him," he told reporters, as quoted by Squawka.

"Many times we were successful, other times we weren't. For Inter, against Barcelona, we stopped him in both matches. I played against him dozens and dozens of times.

"Every time I played against him I would think about ways in which we could collectively give him a difficult match, that's the best thing you can do against him."

Messi scored 11 goals in 24 games against Mourinho-coached teams, while drawing 16 blanks.
