Shut up, John Mahama! NPP has been kind to you & your reckless gov't – Gabby fires back at Mahama........

Leading member of the New Patriotic Party Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko hit out at former President John Mahama for criticising President Nana Akufo-Addo over a supposed proposed new taxes.

Mr. Otchere-Darko who felt slighted by Mahama’s comment asked Ghanaians to tell him to “shush,” claiming the NPP has been “kind” to him notwithstanding “the reckless way” the National Democratic Congress ran down the country’s economy.

Reports emerged Friday that the government was seeking to increase the 17.5% per cent VAT to 21% in the mid-year budget to be presented to parliament on Thursday.

Commenting on the reports, Mahama such increment which he said will cripple businesses, will be at variance with Akufo-Addo’s promise to move from taxation to production.

“The Ghanaian business sector has never experienced such difficult times in the history of the 4th Republic. Akufo-Addo’s proposed new taxes would cripple businesses further and also defeat his much-touted mantra of “from taxation to production,” he tweeted.

But Mr. Otchere-Darko who has not taken kindly to the words of Mahama, blamed his administration and John Mills’ eight year rule for what he claimed to be the mess Ghana’s economy was left in.

He said in a Facebook post Saturday that state the NDC left the economy in requires “creative and intelligent measures to satisfy three things: manage the debt crisis; keep the state machinery running and; deliver on your own promises”.

He continued the Akufo-Addo government found a way in 2017, and will continue to find ways that will keep faith with the people of Ghana.

“Be in no doubt. And, please, can somebody out there tell John Mahama to shush! It is not his fault, though. The NPP has been kind to him on the havoc he caused to the economy,” he said.
