President John Dramani Mahama has predicted victory for the NDC in the 2016 elections.

In making that prediction, the President said he was mindful of the challenges the country was facing, which the government was working hard to tackle.

Addressing the 8th national elevates congress of the NDC at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi today, President Mahama called for continued support of his party members to ensure that the agenda set by the government to transform the county became a reality.

"Our only focus as a party and a social Democratic Party is to improve the lives of our people and I am glad to observe that notwithstanding the temporary challenges we are facing, your party is making remarkable success in many sectors of our national life," he said to cacophonous cheers from the party faithful who covered about one-third of the 42,000 capacity stadium.

He added: "And don't let anybody tell you different, " apparently in reference to criticisms leveled against the government by the opposition for not performing.

The achievements, he said, was there for all to see, cataloguing some of the projects that the NDC government had delivered within the relatively short period power.

The projects included water, health, roads, electricity and education among others.

Taking the gathering back to history, the President said the NDC won the 2012 elections because of the hand of God and the hard work of the rank and file of the party.

"It was a very difficult campaign because we had only three months to campaign yet we won by over 300,000 votes."
