Ghana is very fortunate to have Nana Akufo-Addo as the President - J.J Rawlings...

Former President John Jerry Rawlings has reposed his hope and confidence in President Akufo-Addo as the man to solve Ghana's problems and challenges posed by the corrupt institutions in the country.

John Jerry Rawlings believes that the current president of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, possess certain "principles and values" which could help massively in the fight against corruption.

The former military leader who once ruled Ghana for almost two decades said this when a group of actors paid a courtesy call on him at his Ridge residence in Accra:

“We are very fortunate also that somebody like Nana Akufo-Addo has emerged over here. People think I love that man to high heavens. No. But I respect him for certain principles and values.”

The founder of the National Democratic Congress also added that he hopes President Akufo-Addo would devote about 30% of his time to fight against corrupt persons in the country:

“I will continue to pray and sincerely hope that he will devote possibly even 30 percent of his time, 70 percent for the development and project etc. but at least 25 to 30 percent he would probably need more than that to fight corruption and corruptible tendencies.”

Nana Akufo-Addo emerged victorious in the December 2016 elections after a third attempt by defeating ex-president John Mahama.
