‘Concerned teachers’ divided over Nana Akufo-Addo’s teacher trainee allowance promise...

There is confusion within the leadership of the Concerned Teachers association over the restoration of teacher trainee allowance by the President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo.

The vice president of the group has in a statement called on the incoming government to fulfill the promise within the first 100 days upon assumption of office.

But in reaction to the call, President of the group Ernest Opoku told Ultimate FM the demand by his colleague is out of touch with the reality of the situation.

“Nana Addo has not been sworn in as President so why should you issue an ultimatum? Let him be sworn in, let him look at the coffers and what we have as a country then he can decide on his priorities.

“He has a mandate for four years so what we need to do is to give him ample time. I Think it is too early to give him ultimatum, and to be honest, I think this call is ridiculous,” he said.

Nana Addo among many other promises assured Ghanaians he is was going to restore the teachers and nurses allowances which had been stopped by the outgoing Mahama administration.
