Okyeame Kwame goofs in this song, and it goes unnoticed?...

After a song has been produced and made public, it automatically becomes a matter of public record which can always be used as a reference point.

Okyeame Kwame is one of the finest Ghanaian artistes who is highly respected for his deep and carefully chosen lyrics and so, whatever he says carries a lot of weight but...

My beef, lol? Well, the first time I heard Okyeame Kwame’s song, Hallelujah – one great piece of work, of course – I realized he (Okyeame Kwame Da Rap Dacta) had said something wrong and this, I think must be corrected and put on record however trivial it may seem.

Anyway, somewhere in the second rap verse of Okyeame Kwame’s Hallelujah song, he makes mention of the fact that he (Okyeame Kwame), together with Okyeame Kofi (Quophi), won the first Hiplife Song Of The Year Award at the first Ghana Music Awards organised by Charterhouse, and of which he claims was in the year 1999 which actually isn’t factual. (Watch the video below and slide to 02:29 to listen to that part)

In fact, the first Ghana Music Awards (let me reservedly reserve my reservations about this Award Scheme for now) which was and still being organised by Charterhouse (then known as Multiple Concepts) was held in the year 2000 and not in 1999 as professed by Okyeame Kwame in his ‘Hallelujah’ song that he (Okyeame Kwame) together with Quophi won the first Hiplife Song of The Year Award.

Perhaps, there was some kind of Chinese Award Scheme also tagged as GMA where Okyeame Kwame and Quophi won an award that I do not know of. Looolz!

Yes, it is true that they (Kwame and Quophi) won the first Hiplife Song of the Year Award at the first ever Ghana Music Awards (GMAs) held and organized by Charterhouse in the year 2000.

Award Schemes the world over are tagged with the particular year they are held or organized and not the year or years preparations are started for the Schemes.

Hence, and for now, we only have the Ghana Music Awards Scheme as having been organized by Charterhouse from the year 2000 up to 2016.

You can simply make mention of them as: The 2000 Ghana Music Awards (GMA); The 2001 Ghana Music Awards (GMA); The 2002 Ghana Music Awards (GMA), and so on.

In general, you can simply say the GMAs just to refer to all the ones held and the subsequent ones yet to be held.
