I’m humbled by the VGMA nominations – 'Mampi' hitmaker, Vybrant Faya...
The 'Mampi' hitmaker and Ghana's dancehall sensation, Vybrant Faya, has expressed his profound gratitude to the board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), the GN People's Choice Awards and other awards schemes for recognizing his efforts and nominating him in their respective schemes.
Vybrant Faya picked two outstanding nominations in this year's VGMA which include: New Artist of the Year and Best Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year.
Speaking about his nomination, the 'Mampi' hit maker hinted that the board of the VGMA should be applauded for demonstrating confidence in the dancehall genre but most importantly for having shown support for promising brands.
He believes his inclusion in the awards is as a result of hard work and dedication and points to the fact that the people of Ghana have accepted his style of music.
The VGMA, which is Ghana's premier musical recognition scheme, is scheduled to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday April 11th, 2015, where a number of Ghana's top musical talents and industry players will converge to reward excellence in musical performance for the year 2014.
Seen as the next big thing to steer the African dancehall culture, Vybrant Faya's song mampi, which continues to enjoy massive airplay since it's release, has made several headlines here in Ghana and abroad.
The song was nominated in the recently held 2015 Ghana DJ Awards for the category of Best DJ Song for the year 2014 and also, as Best People's Song in the upcoming GN People's Choice Awards.
Vybrant Faya's management, Shatta Movement Family, expressed their appreciation to the fans in Ghana especially those in the Ghettos and lovers of dancehall music across the world for accepting their brand of music, which preaches respect, tolerance and positive lifestyle.
"We're thankful to the VGMA Board for supporting Ghana music and giving it the needed recognition without which our music will suffer" – Cypha Wellington, CEO of SMF
Vybrant Faya has a unique brand of dancehall called 'upper class dancehall', which involves engaging in the best production and performance of dancehall.
This could easily be attributed to his unique attraction to respectable personalities and brands including his recently much talked about performance to the Royal Ambassador of the Netherlands at his private party.
