Police arrest ECG transformer thieves....

TWO suspected thieves are currently in the grips of Suhum Police for allegedly stealing transformers which belong to the Electricity Company of Ghana at Okoase, a suburb of Suhum Municipal in the Eastern Region on Monday at dawn.

The Suhum District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Joseph Owusu who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE gave the names of the suspects as Enoch Tetteh, 23, mechanic apprentice and Eric Brusah, 25, scraps dealer.

According to him, the two suspects were using a taxi with registration number GR 2672-11 for the operations.

He said, the suspects while on their way to Nsawam on the Accra-Kumasi highway with the stolen ECG transformers accosted the police patrol team midway and quickly diverted onto an artery road but unfortunately for them, the police patrol team detected the move and gave them a hot chase.

He added that, one of the suspects, Enoch Tetteh was arrested, but the other bolted.

Later, Eric Brusah came with the intention to bribe the police to secure a release for his accomplice, Enoch Tetteh, and he also was arrested.

The Suhum Police chief stressed that the suspects would be put before court for prosecution after investigations.
