Fake Ghanaian soldier arrested for defrauding clients to the tune of GH¢30,000...

The Nsawam Police in the Eastern Region have apprehended a 32-year-old self-styled soldier for allegedly defrauding some residents.

The suspect, Anthony Nana Wiafe, allegedly defrauded his clients to the tune of about GH¢30,000 under the pretext of enlisting them in the Ghana Armed Forces.

The suspect, a security man from Tarkwa in the Western Region, was arrested Monday night from his hideout at Kwasi Nyarko, near Nsawam, after Alfred Asante and Emelia Odame, who were his victims, had lodged different complaints with the police.

The Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, who briefed the media on the issue, said Nana Wiafe, who claimed to be working with the Ghana Air Force, allegedly took GH¢1,100 and GH¢600 respectively from the victims.

ASP Tetteh claimed that the suspect was in police custody while investigations continued.

Meanwhile, some people who claim to have been defrauded by the fake military officer have been trooping the Nsawam police station to demand their moneys following his arrest.
